Chinese Hackers Attack Canada

The Canadian government is getting a cyber attack from China's computer last month that penetrate the two financial institutions there.

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) pointed to a source who said that Chinese hackers are able to access the computer system at the Finance Department and Treasyry Board. Once detected there a hack attack, internet access at the two agencies immediately disconnected. Similarly, as quoted by Reuters on Thursday (02/17/2011).

Stockwell Day, a spokesman from the Treasury Board Minister, said that the authorities had detected before an attempt to access the computer network at both institutions.

There is no indication that the data relating to Canadian citizens have been stolen, "Day wrote in an email.

Stockwell Day also did not say if the attack is tracked back to a server in China. Intelligence Bureau of Canada often complained about 'industrial espionage by China and other countries
